Pond makes everyday answers on your iPhone and keeps your chats there. Some tools need the internet. Here’s what that means for your privacy.
What makes Pond a private AI app?
Pond creates everyday answers on your iPhone and keeps chat history there. That is the privacy benefit. Search, images and weather have a separate boundary: they share the information needed with online services, as explained below.
Chat history stays on your device
Pond stores your chats and creates everyday answers on your phone. It doesn’t keep a copy of your chat history on our servers or switch to a cloud AI service to answer.
Your device’s own security still matters. Use a passcode, keep iOS updated and consider who can access your unlocked phone. Device backups and operating-system services are controlled by your Apple settings; “device-only” does not override those settings.
Optional tools have their own boundaries
Web search needs to send a search query to DuckDuckGo. Weather sends a location or place name to Open-Meteo. When a request calls for an image, Pond can send an image query to Wikimedia Commons and load its thumbnail, without a separate search switch. These requests reveal query or location details and network information to their providers, even though your complete chat history is not uploaded.
Pond can also read Calendar and Reminders when you grant the relevant permission. Access is optional and read-only. You can revoke it in iOS Settings. Dictation uses the app’s on-device speech recognition path when available.
Memories and chats are different
A saved memory is a detail kept to help future conversations. Review what you choose to save, and edit or remove details you no longer want Pond to use.
The launch version described on this site keeps these features local. Planned account-enabled releases may sync a profile, saved memories and pond progress. That is a separate boundary from chat history, which is intended to remain on the device. We will update the policy before those services launch.
Less collection, clearer choices
This website has no advertising trackers, analytics scripts or contact-form database. Opening it still sends ordinary network information to Cloudflare, our hosting provider. Emailing support sends the message to our support inbox. Avoid including sensitive chat text unless it is needed to explain your request.
